It's obvious where I want to comment about! ARUBA! It was the last stop on a cruise I took many years ago. So the night before at the blackjack table in the casino on board, I asked the dealer what to do at this stop. Get a rental car he said. I was hesitant about that. Drivin' in a strange place. But boy was he right! The scenery was so beautiful and the freedom to go wherever we wanted was awesome! And the people! SO friendly! The locals are mostly Arawak Indians and Dutch (Territory of Netherlands) , and very helpful and friendly. That Natalie Holloway tragedy was an isolated incident by one troubled man. I wouldn't be afraid to walk downtown at night by myself! Aruba is a small island 8x20 miles, so gettin' from one end to the other only takes an hour at most. Aruba has an arid climate, so look to your right and see beaches and palm trees then look to your left and see cactus and divi divi trees. The shoppin' is great and the food is a mixture of everything you can imagine and top notch! Well, after this, I stopped cruisin' and just went to Aruba for a week at a time! I like to call Aruba a beach bunny's "Mecca" because it hardly ever rains and the temp never varies from 80-88 degrees F. It is also out of the "hurricane belt" bein' 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela. I been to many islands in the Caribbean and Aruba is my hands down favorite!
